Oh.. how ive missed the.

Its been such a long time since my last post. Since then Ive decided to broaden the content of WOWStyles to deliver more info outside of fashion on topics that every girl/ woman should stay up to date on. In my opinion. I will begin to add information on health, makeup and last but definitely not least, hair.

Having said that, the holidays are soon approaching (Christmas is this week!) and what better way to bring in the new year than with a new and or different look. A little attention to hair and makeup can make a big difference. Here are some ideas for holiday hair and makeup to try.

Hair How-To:
For Union's shiny, bouncy curls deep condition your hair the night before so it's extra glossy. Blow-dry your hair with a round brush then use a large curling iron, rolling hair around the barrel in one direction and then again in the other direction. Once you're done, mist everything with a lightweight shine spray.

Makeup Tip:

Give your regular smoky eye a sultry holiday upgrade by using metallic shadows. Use a dark blue or purple for shading and lining and highlight your brow bones and inner corners with a champagne color. Check out the Bobbi Brown Metallic Eye Shadow collection ($20 each) for a slew of stunning options.

Hair How-To: Take a cue from the Gossip Girl star and weave your hair into a low, loose side braid. Let

your shorter pieces fall around your face and don't worry if some strands stick out of the plait.

*This look was also worn by the actress on last nights episode of Gossip Girl, I tried it today and loved it.*

Makeup Tip: The easiest way to make your eyes look big and bright is to blend a bit of pearly white shadow or highlighter in the inner corners, like Lively did here. Try BeneFit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Ice Shot, $19.

Hair How-To: This super-sleek style makes a short cut look polished and sophisticated. Create a deep side part then mist hair with a heat protective spray such as Mizani Thermastrength Style Serum, $17. Working in small section, run a flat iron from root to ends. Apply a drop of shine serum to your palms then run them over the top layer of your hair. Try SoftSheen Carson Roots of Nature Remedies Mango Oil & Sweet Almond Oil Thermal Smoothing Serum, $7.

Makeup Tip: Don't have practically poreless skin like Rowland? Fake it. Start with a dime size drop of primer then use a clean cosmetics sponge to press (don't rub) a creamy foundation into your skin, wherever it needs it. This will give you even, natural-looking coverage. For darker skin tones try CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Compact Foundation, $8.99.

Hair How-To: Stash a hair accessory in your purse during party season. A sparkly headband or eye-catching barrette adds an instant shot of glamour to any style, even if it's a messy chignon like LC has here. ( right now I keep my pearl studded elastic headband in my bag everyday.. for just in case purposes.)

Makeup Tip: Make your skin look more radiant and luminous by blending a light-reflecting liquid highlighter over your blush, such as BeneFit Girl Meets Pearl, $30.

Keri Hilson recently released a new single called "Pretty Girl Rock" she explains that the full meaning of the song is not bragging about herself but letting everyone know that what she says in the song is the way all girls, women and everyone should feel about themselves.

Personally, I think she should’ve emphasized what she means by "pretty"... on the outside, inside, both? As a very wise woman told me... if you’re ugly on the inside then your ugly on the outside. Good ol’ Granny.

That is the one and only, Beyonce Knowles.



She was standing next to a nobody like me.

Well, a nobody on the way to being a somebody that is.

DON’T GET IT TWISTED.



Here is how it happened….

I was chillin at work.

Better yet, tired at work, while browsing on the computer.

I had a toothache that kept me up until 5 that morning.

Plus,

my cousin and his friends went back to Barbados and I was semi-depressed.

I had repeated something online for the 50th time and was probably on the way to repeating it for the 51st.

The elevator opened up next to me and out walks Tina Knowles.



Now,

Mrs. Knowles and I go way way back.

Well, not really… she just comes into my job to do business and since I am usually the first person she sees,

we have established a little relationship.



(Mrs. Knowles is my boo!)



She waved at me and she went her usual direction…. but she was followed by a gorgeous woman.

I only got a glimpse of her, but I knew she was pretty and she had a mean walk.



“Is that Beyonce?” I asked myself.



They motioned for me to unlock the door and when the pretty gorgeous woman turned around…. It was indeed Beyonce.



Beyonce was wearing a skin tite short dress and some sexy leopard skin pumps.



I was so in shock.



Here is a woman that has been a part of my life since her days in Destiny’s Child.

I wasn’t a super fan but I owned her music, been to a concert, and watched her videos.



A gentleman was in front of me,

requesting a page from one of the employees.

The page went something like this:



“HI. GOOD EVENING. THIS IS JUSTIN. CAN ALBERTA ….. (NOT EVEN THE PERSON’S NAME) COME TO THE FRONT. OK. THANKS. BYE.”



Now we arent suppose to even page anyone like that,

but I was so overcome with fear,

I fucked it all up.



Quickly, someone called me from the back:



“OMG did you hear what you just said?”

“I know. Beyonce just walked in here and I got flustered.”

“WHAT? Which room did she go in?”

“The usual.”

“BYE!”



Here I go,

I see him walk by with two dresses.

LOL (he needed props)



So her bodyguard came off the elevator and he is one big black man.

I was NOT about to get yoked up by him.

Beyonce and what appeared to be an assistant came out and went to the bathroom.

When she walked by,

I was just staring at her.

She gives off the aura of superstar plus she is so beautiful in person.



Her mother and a co-worker came out and were talking at the elevator and I had a few thoughts in me head:



“Justin. Beyonce just walked in the DAMN bathroom.”

“Those heels she had on were HOT.”

“She is killing that dress.”

“You could be a pussy today or for once in your life, take a risk.”



So I choose risk.

What was the worst that could happen.



“Hi. *ahem* Hi…. Miss Knowles.” I said outloud towards Tina Knowles.

Everyone looked in my direction.

“Hi…. would it be possible if I took a picture with your daughter?”



It was silence.

Did I fuck up?

Would I be seeing the unemployment line the next day?



She came over to the desk swiftly.



“Well you gotta ask Beyonce. Not me.”



I said a quick prayer.

I actually had to SPEAK to her.

LOL



So during the short wait,

my supervisor came back from lunch and we were all talking in the lobby.

Mrs. Knowles started showing us pictures of her youth and a picture were she looks like Solange.

She was very pretty when she was younger.



Beyonce emerged from the bathroom.

She had on a grey shirt, nice form fitting blue jeans, and the same leopard skin pumps.



Mrs. Knowles looked at me and I looked at her.

“Beyonce….” She asked.

“Huh?” Beyonce asked, turning around.

“This gentleman would like to ask you something.”



So it was all eyea and ears on me at that point.

So I took my moment.



“Wassup Beyonce? would it be an inconvenience if I took a picture with you?”



You know I had to keep it professional.



“Sure that would be no problem.” She smiled at me.



I got up and she wanted to take the shot on her good side.

I mean, all sides were his good sides.

I asked Mrs. Knowles if she wanted to be in it, but she declined.

I would have loved that, to be honest.

I gave my camera to my coworker and he snapped the shot.

Went a little something like this:

and BOOM.


It was done.



Don’t we look fly like?



“Thank you so much. It is nice meeting you.” I said, extending my hand.

“Awww no problem and it is a pleasure meeting you too. “



She was looking at me in my eyes as she shook my hands.

Nice soft hands and she smelled so good.

She got into the elevator and that was it.



My day went from bad to better in one hour.



The moral of the story is you have one moment each day of your life.

One shot in one situation and you have the choice to take it or not.

I wanted to not be so scared like I would have been.

But I grew up and I had wings.

I been pushed into the world alone ever since my mother died and now it was time for me to take what is mine.

I wanted to finally be brave and jump head first.



…and I did.

Subject: LOVE or Lust?


In an attempt to be more responsible + avoid becoming a compulsive shopper (again) I have decided to create a photographic list of my wants and keep it for at least a week before I decide to purchase them. This should give me enough time to decide if my cravings are simply lustful or if I really love them. (its funny how this can apply to more than just shopping.) If its love ... I indulge. :) If it was lust..I feel good about the extra dinero in my pocket.
I wonder which side of the way these items will end up on. We will see!

"Bet BIG Win BIG. Its the only way to Play."

This past weekend the movie with the all star cast "Takers" opened and I must say my husband Mr.Idris Elba (and the rest of the cast :P) did not dissapoint. Besides the acting, action and eye candy, the fashion in this movie was just as on point as my husband was without his shirt on. Ok im done with Idris. This movie was great and so were the stylists who worked on it.
